Happy BREW Year!

Man! Is it me, or did this year fly by? I feel like just yesterday I was celebrating New Year’s for 2017!

I have accomplished a lot in 2017: I graduated (finally) from UCF with my degree in Health Sciences. I bought a new car. My (now) fiancé and I moved into our first house. And as of three days ago, I got engaged! It really has been an excellent year and I have accomplished much more in my life than I thought I would.

I also started this beer blog, and it has been much more successful than I ever thought it would be.

I am really hoping to put in more work and time for you all with the new year. I have some goals in mind. And I am definitely going to work on posting more here on my website. I also hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s celebration.

So, I know that some of you have seen from Instagram… and I just mentioned it, but:

I  GOT ENGAGED!

I had suspected it would happen, but didn’t know it would be this soon. My fiancé and I have been together for about five years. If you are interested in love stories and cute proposals, continue reading. Otherwise, stop here and wait ’til my new post tomorrow about some awesome beer I tried on New Year’s Eve!

Friday, December 29th, 2017 was the best day of my life.

We planned on going to the Orlando Solar Bears game (local ECHL team–that’s hockey, in case you didn’t know) with a friend of ours and his girlfriend. We have been going to the games (since the Solar Bears came back from the dead) for about four years now.

I thought it was just another good time down in the books: have a few domestic, cold beers at the game, then venture out to our local bars downtown after.

Nah. Not this time!

We got our tickets, which weren’t our normal seats. We were in the 8th row from the glass this time. We got there early, and all of a sudden my fiancé began to feel “sick.” We sat there, and I just thought the whole time, This man better pull it together, I want to see this game! Halfway through the first period, we are “randomly” selected to play the Wawa shootout game during intermission.

Wawa is a gas station (not sure if every state has them, it was a novelty to Florida about six or seven years ago) and to win a Wawa gift card, one person on the team has to ride a trike halfway down the rink to their teammate who then has three tries to get a shot in the net. First person to score wins!

“Do you want to play?” my fiancé asked.

“Do you want to?” I said. Ha.

“Yeah, let’s go.”

So we followed this young man who “randomly” selected us and went through the secret halls of the Amway Center, down this weird, abnormally large elevator, and down to where the players enter and exit the ice.

Another couple competed against us. We all got into position on the ice.

Nick was doing very well, riding the little three wheeled contraption down the rink towards me. The other person couldn’t even get it together and had barely moved. After he gets to me, I pick up the hockey stick in front of me and 5 pucks were placed in front of me.

Embarrassingly, not a ONE made it in the net (lol). But it didn’t matter. Because when I turned around in disappointment to look at my, at the moment, boyfriend, he was kneeling down on one knee holding a diamond ring in a small box with the biggest smile on his face.

The crowd was yelling, there was so much excitement in the air! And all I could do was just cry. I almost fell to my knees, I was hardly able to see anything from the tears in my eyes, everything was blurred and I didn’t even see anything around me but him. I couldn’t even speak, I just nodded my head.

Once we got off the ice, we headed up to a suite where all our friends and family were waiting. It was the best night ever.

I really couldn’t ask for more, and I am so very excited to see what adventures and wonder this year will bring, for us, for my blog, for the local beer scene, and life in general. I am really hoping for some good things to come out this year.

I also cannot thank you all enough. Thank you for your support, thank you for following me, thank you especially for all of the well wishes!

Happy New Year!
