Hey, guys!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. I have been so busy with work, I feel like I get home and *BLINK* it’s the next day already. I have hardly had time to even get simple chores done, like my laundry… Oops. But I have had time for trying new beers.
I have been on a major sour kick lately. I’m kicking myself in the butt right now, though, because I tried a new berliner weisse at World of Beer the day after the eclipse happened and I can’t remember the name of it! 🙁
I really wanted to try to see if I could purchase it to take some home. No luck. I am still trying to remember that beer… If anyone has the old WOB menus or has tried any berliner weisse from WOB in the last 3 weeks, please let me know!
In other news–I did try two new sours from Hourglass and Destihl Brewing. Which one did I like the most? Read on to find out.
Wuk Up was a deliciously tangy berliner weisse poured straight from the tastiest taps of Hourglass Brewing.
Light in color, light in feel, and just the right amount of tartness… In my opinion, practically one of the best sours I have yet to try, ever. It’s easy to drink. If I wanted to, I could probably chug a glass (but that doesn’t allow me to actually enjoy the beer and might be frowned upon).
I HIGHLY recommend you try this beer if you like sours.
The other sour I tried this week is from Destihl Brewery, Here Gose Nothin’.
Holy SOUR, Batman. This is probably one of the most sour beers that has ever touched my tastebuds. It was delicious. Nothing mild about it, though. If you are a diehard sour fan, you would like this. If you’re just getting into sours, this might blow your socks off. It’s a little much. For me, I liked it, but the sour really smacks you in the face. You really don’t get any other flavors in this.
That doesn’t mean I didn’t like it, though. I would definitely repurchase this.
So, which one did I like more?
Definitely the Wuk Up from Hourglass. It was a little more tame and like I said, I could probably chug a glass if I wanted to. It is easy on your tastebuds, but not with the flavor. The tart taste is not overwhelming, and you do get that hint of liquid gold towards the end.
I am hoping they plan on canning this because I am going to stock up and probably by a whole case. Not sure what I am going to do until then. Probably just bring a blanket, pillow, and a toothbrush to the bar, because I may not ever leave. I’m hooked!
As always, thanks for stopping by and I’ll see ya on the ‘Gram!
